Zelenskyy called on the U.S. and the EU to tighten sanctions against Russia following a massive attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the United States and the European Union to intensify sanctions against Russia following yet another massive nighttime attack by Russia on Ukraine.

According to the head of state, 14 people were injured as a result of the Russian strikes overnight, and two more were killed in Zaporizhzhia. 

Russian troops attacked residential buildings and civilian infrastructure in Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and the Odesa, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

Civilian infrastructure facilities were also damaged as a result of the shelling. Specifically, a kindergarten was damaged in Kyiv, a high school in the Kyiv region, and a university in Kharkiv. Strikes on energy infrastructure were recorded in Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Vinnytsia regions.

“It is important that our partners not forget that Russian escalation is taking place every day. If the Russians have chosen to make their strikes even more brutal, the world must choose stronger responses to prevent the war from spreading further,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.

The President of Ukraine separately appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump, calling on him to implement sanctions legislation related to Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill, as well as to increase pressure on Russia and the countries that financially support its war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy also discussed the issue of sanctions pressure on Russia with representatives of the U.S. Congress during his visit to New York.

Zelenskyy called on European Union leaders to impose additional sanctions against Russia. He also emphasized the need to maintain existing restrictions on Russian oligarchs and prevent their removal from sanctions lists.

In addition, the head of state called for continuing trade restrictions with Russia until the war ends.

“This is exactly how, through our joint daily efforts, peace should be brought closer,” the president concluded.

This is stated in a statement by the head of state.

Russian troops once again launched an airstrike using guided bombs on Sumy. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure came under enemy fire.

Russian troops attacked a highway in the Odesa region. The strike damaged three trucks, one of which caught fire. Three people were also injured.

On the morning of September 26, Russian forces again struck the plant of the pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa.” According to preliminary information, no one was injured as a result of the attack. 

In Kyiv’s Solomyanskyi district, a drone crash caused a fire in an office building. In the Obolonskyi district, a drone crashed into a non-residential building, injuring one person. 

As of 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, five civilians had been injured in Kyiv as a result of the enemy attack. 

In the Sumy region, one person was killed as a result of Russian attacks, and 13 more civilians were wounded and injured. Among the injured were a one-and-a-half-month-old infant and children.

As a result of a Russian attack on the night of September 26, the “Auchan Bilychi” store, located in the Lavina Mall shopping center in Kyiv, was damaged.

On the night of September 26, Russian troops carried out a massive attack on civilian infrastructure in the Odesa region.

In the Kyiv region, two people were injured on the night of September 26 as a result of Russian attacks. Rescue workers were called in several times to deal with the aftermath of the Russian aggression.

On the night of September 26, Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia. The strike destroyed a private home, caused fires, killed two women, and injured two people, including a child.

On the evening of September 25, a Russian drone struck Sumy. A 14-year-old girl was injured in the attack; she was on the street near the impact site at the time of the explosion. The child was hospitalized; doctors describe her condition as serious but stable.

As a reminder, over the past day, Russian invaders suffered 1,520 casualties. Additionally, one tank, five armored combat vehicles, and 73 artillery systems were destroyed.

Occupied Donetsk and a significant portion of the region’s territory temporarily seized by Russian terrorists were left without power on September 18. 

On the night of Saturday, September 19, the Russian terrorist army struck Pavlohrad. A fire has been reported.
