Sibiga identified the main obstacle to peace in Ukraine

On August 22, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that Vladimir Putin is the main—and, in fact, the only—obstacle to ending the war and achieving a just peace. According to him, peace efforts are currently on hold, and more active U.S. participation in the negotiation process is needed to revive them.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga made this statement at a joint press briefing with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful in Kyiv.

The minister noted that peace efforts to find ways to end Russia’s war against Ukraine are currently on hold. More active U.S. involvement in the negotiation process is needed.

“Ukraine has ideas—including creative ones—to maximize the momentum of this process. We are awaiting the arrival of the U.S. negotiating team,” Sibiga said.

“There should be no pauses, and the new active political and diplomatic season must focus first and foremost on how we can end the war. And there is one—and practically the only—obstacle to this: Putin,” Sibiga emphasized.

Earlier, Putin commented on the strikes against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

As a reminder, Russia has again struck the port of Odesa, and there are casualties.

In Izyum, Kharkiv Oblast, five people were injured as a result of a Russian airstrike. The enemy also damaged at least 15 residential buildings.

Since the evening of August 16, the Russian army has attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. Five people were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.

In Kherson, power outages occurred as a result of yet another round of Russian shelling.
