Sibiga noted that Russia’s promises to Kenya to stop recruitment were false

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga commented on reports of Kenyan mercenaries participating in hostilities on Russia’s side. According to him, Russia’s assurances that it had stopped recruiting Kenyan citizens turned out to be false.

He wrote about this on social media.

He emphasized that African governments must counter illegal recruitment rather than rely on Moscow’s promises.

"Another sad lesson in how Russia 'respects' agreements. Its promises to the Kenyan side were simply lies. It is time not only for Kenya but also for the governments of other African countries to realize this and resolutely counter illegal recruitment, rather than asking Moscow for favors," Sibiga noted.
