Defense forces struck key oil refining facilities at the Novoshakhtinsk Refinery in Russia
The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery in Russia’s Rostov Oblast was struck on the night of May 31, 2026, by a “Neptune” coastal missile system. The strike put the main processing units out of commission.
The strike targeted a strategic fuel infrastructure facility of the Russian Federation, which plays a crucial role in supplying Russian troops with fuel.
“On the night of May 31, units of the Ukrainian Navy once again delivered a precision strike against a strategic enemy facility,” the statement said.
According to the Navy, the strike destroyed or disabled:
two atmospheric-vacuum crude oil refining units, each with a capacity of up to 2.5 million tons per year, as well as petroleum product storage facilities.
The statement emphasizes that the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery is a key element of the region’s fuel logistics, so its destruction could significantly impact the supply of Russian troops.
“Damage to the facility significantly reduces the enemy’s ability to provide logistical support to military units,” the Ukrainian Navy noted.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Navy.
On the night of June 3, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a large-scale long-range operation, striking a number of strategically important targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.
