Air Defence Forces shoot down all jet-powered drones headed for Kyiv – video
Ukraine’s air defence forces destroyed all ten out of ten Russian jet-powered drones that attacked Kyiv and the surrounding region during the day on 14 January 2026, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
According to the Air Force, the enemy intensified its strikes between 07:00 and 17:00, deploying high-speed jet-powered unmanned aerial vehicles instead of the more common propeller-driven models. All available air defence assets were engaged to intercept the targets in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, including fighter aircraft and electronic warfare units.
As of the evening, the air raid alert remained in effect, as Russia continued launching kamikaze drones towards the capital. The use of jet engines significantly complicates the work of mobile fire groups due to the higher speed of the targets. Nevertheless, by 17:00 Ukrainian forces had demonstrated a 100% interception rate.
Residents are urged not to ignore air raid warnings and to remain in shelters until the official all-clear is announced, as Russia is attempting to exhaust Ukraine’s air defence system through sustained and combined attacks.
Earlier, an enemy drone struck a petrol station in Sumy, injuring civilians.
Meanwhile, along the Kovel–Kyiv railway line, a new threat has been recorded following drone attacks: some kamikaze drones may be dropping magnetic mines directly onto the ground.
