Syrsky stated that Russia still retains its offensive capabilities

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that it is still too early to speak of a decisive turning point in the war. Despite signs of exhaustion within the Russian army, it still retains significant offensive capabilities.

According to Syrskyi, Russian troops continue to have sufficient resources to conduct active combat operations. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are working to weaken the enemy’s capabilities and turn the situation on the front in their favor.

According to Syrskyi, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are maintaining consistently high rates of eliminating Russian invading personnel and their equipment, consistently disrupting enemy logistics and delivering effective strikes against military and critical infrastructure targets, primarily the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy complex, which sustains the operation of its war machine.

“This shows that we are on the right track. At the same time, it is still too early to speak of a decisive turning point in the war. The aggressor is showing signs of exhaustion but retains significant offensive potential. It is increasing the size of its forces, continuing massive strikes on Ukrainian territory, ramping up the production of weapons, and preparing to seize the initiative and launch possible offensive operations on new sections of the front,” the Commander-in-Chief stated.

Syrskyi emphasized: “We are taking these threats into account, working to strengthen the resilience of our defenses, and must act preemptively.”

As the Commander-in-Chief emphasized, the training of service members remains one of the absolute priorities following the completion of combat missions. The lives of our defenders, the resilience of our units, and the effectiveness of our defense depend directly on the quality of this training.

According to Syrsky, “today, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have an advantage over the enemy in terms of training, as confirmed by both the course of hostilities and the losses suffered by the Russian army. However, the enemy is attempting to compensate for this with numerical superiority and plans to extend the front line, which already exceeds 1,250 kilometers.”

At the meeting, he paid special attention to further improving the system of military training. Training methods, the Commander-in-Chief emphasized, must be quickly adapted to changes in modern combat tactics, the development of unmanned systems, the emergence of new types of weapons, and the specifics of their combat use.

“We are continuing to strengthen the training of junior commanders and sergeants,” Syrskyi noted.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that support from Ukraine’s allies remains a key component in the development of a professional sergeant corps. According to him, the training of master sergeants and squad leaders is currently being conducted in six NATO member states.

“We continue to receive and analyze feedback from combat units regarding the quality of training at training centers, refine the training process, and enhance training safety,” Syrskyi noted.

He reported that the selection process for applicants to noncommissioned officer colleges—drawn from both civilian youth and military personnel—is ongoing.

The general also set the task of forming a reserve of junior commanders for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Commander-in-Chief thanked everyone who teaches, trains, and works daily to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian military.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, made this statement on Facebook following a monthly meeting on improving the quality of training for service members and units.

Syrskyi assessed the pilot program involving new medical battalions in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
