New air defense systems have begun to be deployed around Moscow
New air defense systems have begun to be installed on the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) near the “Mega” shopping center. Their deployment comes amid an intensification of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory.
According to Russian authorities, on the night of July 7, air defense forces allegedly shot down 452 drones over 16 regions and occupied Crimea, 430 of which, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, were heading toward the capital. Due to the attacks, restrictions were imposed at Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Sheremetyevo airports, while Zhukovsky Airport temporarily suspended operations.
Earlier, OSINT analysts also reported that new positions for S-400 systems were being prepared within Moscow. According to Bild, more than 40 “Pantsir-S1” anti-aircraft missile and gun systems have already been deployed around the Russian capital since 2025.
