Court sentences GRU agent from the National Guard to life imprisonment
A Russian military intelligence agent who spied on Ukrainian Defense Forces units in Kharkiv region has received the harshest punishment.
This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The court sentenced the traitor to life imprisonment with full confiscation of all her property.
The offender turned out to be a contract servicemember of the National Guard of Ukraine, who held the position of radio telegraph operator at a communications hub.
Using her official position, she transmitted to the occupiers decrypted signals of air defense combat control.
With this classified information, the enemy attempted to identify “blind” zones of Ukrainian radar stations.
The obtained data was planned to be used by Russian forces to prepare new massive strikes on civilian and military infrastructure in Kharkiv.
In addition to workplace espionage, the woman personally surveyed the city to record the locations of Ukrainian defenders on Google Maps.
She also attempted to covertly extract coordinates of units from her acquaintances among servicemembers.
The Security Service of Ukraine detained the traitor back in September 2024, at the very beginning of her active subversive activity.
Thanks to the timely detection, law enforcement secured the positions of the Defense Forces that were being targeted for shelling.
During searches of the detainee, a smartphone was seized containing direct evidence of work for Russian military intelligence.
The device also contained numerous pro-Kremlin posts in which the woman openly justified the occupation of Crimea and the territories of Donbas.
The court found the defendant guilty under two articles of the Criminal Code: state treason and justification of armed aggression. The life sentence became a natural outcome of her cooperation with the aggressor country.
The SBU also detained a Russian agent who guided aerial bombs on Sloviansk.
