In March, the effectiveness of interceptor drones doubled — Syrsky

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi held a working meeting on countering enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to the meeting’s findings, the number of combat sorties by interceptor drones and the number of Russian targets destroyed increased by nearly 55% in March compared to February.

Since the beginning of spring, UAV interceptor units have already eliminated over 2,300 enemy aerial targets.

Aviation plays a special role in repelling attacks: since early March, Ukrainian helicopters have destroyed 379 enemy attack drones, demonstrating the high skill of their crews.

The Ukrainian command is responding swiftly to changes in the occupiers’ tactics regarding the use of “suicide drones.”

“The enemy is changing tactics—we are adapting our actions accordingly and developing new effective ways to counter attack drones,” emphasized Oleksandr Syrskyi during a discussion of defense strategy.

Significant organizational changes have been implemented to strengthen the defense capabilities of cities and critical infrastructure.

The Air Defense Unmanned Systems Command has been reorganized into the Command of Direct Air Defense Forces within the Ukrainian Air Force.

The new structure is responsible for developing “light air defense,” modernizing existing equipment, and providing high-quality training for personnel.

Currently, the unit is actively acquiring operational capabilities and adopting specific forces and means to counter drones.

The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that Ukrainian-made drones demonstrate the highest effectiveness in the sky.

Ukraine is ready to share this unique combat experience with international partners, but needs to further increase its equipment inventory.

“We are paying special attention to the implementation of artificial intelligence and increasing the level of automation in the use of air defense systems—both for interceptor drones and for aviation and ground-based firepower,” the general stated.

As a reminder, Ukraine plans to exchange interceptor drones for air defense missiles from Middle Eastern countries.

Ukraine is also developing all-weather interceptor drones equipped with artificial intelligence.
