In Belgorod, children will be taught survival skills under shelling at the government's expense

In Belgorod, children will be taught survival skills under shelling at the government's expense

Russia is launching a program to teach children in border regions about mine safety, how to act under fire, and rules of conduct during drone and missile attacks. The project is funded by the Presidential Fund and will reach more than a hundred schoolchildren. The training will last nearly a year and will include both theory and practical survival skills.

More than 2 million rubles have been allocated from the Presidential Grants Fund to implement the project. The program will be carried out by the organization “Brotherhood of Orthodox Pathfinders,” which already has experience working with scout and youth groups.

The program will involve 120 children and teenagers aged 10 to 17 from various towns in the Belgorod Region, including Belgorod, Stary Oskol, Chernyanka, Novy Oskol, and Shebekino. Classes are scheduled to take place from September 2026 through June 2027, covering nearly the entire school year. The children will be taught the rules of conduct in emergency situations, how to pack an “emergency backpack,” and how to navigate using a map and compass. A separate section will be devoted to actions to take during missile and drone threats, as well as protocols for behavior during shelling.

The program will place special emphasis on mine safety: students will be shown what “Lepestok”-type anti-personnel mines look like and will be taught what to do if they encounter suspicious objects. A basic first-aid course is also planned, covering skills such as stopping bleeding and evacuating the injured. Another set of lessons will focus on so-called “information hygiene,” where children will be taught not to post photos or videos of military facilities, as well as how to distinguish between reliable and fake information. According to a survey conducted by the project’s authors, 45% of children admitted to filming air defense systems on their phones.

The program’s initiators cite the situation in the border regions as the reason for its necessity. According to their data, since the beginning of 2026, 23 civilians have been killed in the region, and another 98 have been injured, including children. Reports also note that the death toll has risen significantly compared to the previous year. This has been reported by Russian media.

A series of powerful explosions rocked the Russian city of Voronezh, likely caused by a missile strike.

On the night of June 22, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack on Moscow and several regions of the Russian Federation. According to Russian officials, 59 drones were allegedly destroyed as they approached the capital.

In the temporarily occupied city of Armiansk, located on the Crimean Peninsula, a building belonging to the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation caught fire as a result of the nighttime drone attack.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will continue to intensify long-range strikes on Russian territory and expand the capabilities of its own drones.
