A massive oil spill has been reported in the Black Sea following the attacks on Tuapse
Following drone attacks on the seaport of Tuapse, an oil slick covering an area of 10,000 square meters has formed in the Black Sea. And oil is raining down on residents from the sky.
The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters of the Russian Federation reported on the spill. Six specialized vessels were deployed to contain the pollution, and booms were set up.
In addition to the sea area, oil products have entered the Tuapse River due to a fire at the terminal caused by a nighttime attack on April 16. As of April 20, efforts are underway in the city to extinguish a new fire at the maritime terminal following another drone raid, with over 240 people involved. Local residents complain of oil droplets in the rainwater, yet the occupying authorities claim that the concentration of harmful substances in the air allegedly does not exceed the norm. This is despite the fact that it is already raining oil in the region, as evidenced by videos posted by residents.
Residents of Tuapse, Russia, are increasingly complaining about the unbearable living conditions in this frontline city. Once a popular resort, it has turned into an area of environmental disaster and constant danger due to regular explosions at local industrial facilities.
On the night of April 20, Ukrainian defense forces successfully attacked a number of strategic targets, including an oil refinery in Tuapse and two large amphibious assault ships in occupied Sevastopol.
