The Russian State Duma is proposing to require businesses to shoot down drones on their own
A proposal has been made in the Russian State Duma to require large companies to independently protect their facilities from drone attacks.
The initiative was announced by Sergei Mironov, head of the Fair Russia faction.
According to him, energy and system-critical enterprises should create their own armed units to counter drone strikes.
Mironov noted that a law allowing private security companies to obtain small arms to protect critical infrastructure came into effect at the end of March.
He believes this is sufficient for businesses, together with units of the Russian Ministry of Defense, to repel attacks.
The State Duma is also calling on the government to make such measures mandatory for companies, rather than voluntary.
