A series of explosions rocked Kyiv following an attack by Russian drones
A series of explosions was heard in Kyiv this afternoon. An air raid alert was declared in the capital and the Kyiv region, during which residents heard the air defense forces in action.
The air raid alert in Kyiv was declared at 1:18 p.m.
Shortly after the alert was issued, the sounds of air defense systems in action were heard on the right bank of Kyiv.
At 1:20 p.m., Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that air defense forces were engaged in the capital against enemy drones.
The mayor urged Kyiv residents to remain in safe places until the air raid alert was over.
The air raid alert in Kyiv lasted 12 minutes, after which the all-clear was given.
At the same time, official information regarding the consequences of the attack is currently being verified. Authorities are also determining whether there was any damage or casualties as a result of the strike.
Residents of the capital are urged not to post photos or videos of Ukrainian air defense operations online, as such footage could help the enemy identify the locations of air defense systems.
As a reminder, the intensity of Russian attacks on Kherson has increased 2.5-fold since the beginning of the year. At the same time, only about 20% of the city’s pre-war population remains there—approximately 60,000 people out of 300,000.
Over the past week, Russian troops have struck checkpoints in southern Ukraine four times. On the border with Moldova, the “Vynogradivka–Vulcănești” checkpoint was damaged, while the “Tabaky–Mirne” checkpoint was completely destroyed; the “Orlivka–Isaccea” checkpoint on the border with Romania was also hit.
As of the morning of September 4, power outages were reported in four regions of Ukraine as a result of new Russian shelling. Utility workers continue to work on restoring power and repairing the damage caused by the enemy attacks.
