The death toll from the drone attack in Kyiv has risen — Klitschko

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv, during emergency rescue operations at a non-residential building in the center of the capital, specialists recovered the body of yet another victim. This is likely the building of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, where one employee was reported missing.

Meanwhile, in the Solomyanskyi district, a fire broke out after an enemy UAV crashed into the courtyard of a residential building; cars are burning. Emergency services rushed to the scene to deal with the aftermath and provide necessary assistance.

In an evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that an assistant to former National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) head Volodymyr Horbulin was killed when a Russian “Shahed” jet-powered UAV struck the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv. A search is underway for the person whose office was directly hit by the Shahed.

On September 28, the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in central Kyiv caught fire following a Russian strike. Rescue workers are on the scene, extinguishing the fire and searching the building—there may still be people inside.

During the strike on the building of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences in Kyiv on September 28, several scientists and employees of the institution were killed, and a number of people remain unaccounted for.

Former Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Academician Volodymyr Horbulin, sustained minor injuries during the Russian strike on the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. His assistant was killed in the attack.
