Moscow has warned of possible internet disruptions amid drone attacks

Moscow has warned of possible internet disruptions amid drone attacks

Russian mobile operators have begun sending messages to Moscow residents about possible internet service disruptions due to the implementation of additional security measures.

In particular, subscribers of the operator “Megafon” received a warning about possible difficulties accessing the network.

“You may experience internet difficulties in your region due to security measures. However, regular calls, text messages, and some essential services will continue to function,” the message reads.

The reasons for the possible mobile internet outages have not been officially specified. At the same time, the warnings came amid regular reports of drone attacks on the Russian capital.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, five drones were shot down on the evening of June 24 as they approached the city. Russian authorities issue similar statements about the operation of air defense systems and the alleged destruction of drones near Moscow on an almost daily basis.

Amid the growing number of drone attacks, Russian telecom operators are increasingly warning users about possible internet access restrictions related to security measures.

As a reminder, demand for luxury new-construction properties in Russia has plummeted. According to results for the first half of 2026, sales of high-end housing in Moscow fell by nearly 30% compared to the same period last year. Experts cite the rapid rise in prices and the segment’s declining investment appeal as the main reasons.

On the night of June 22, Russian authorities reported a massive drone attack on Moscow and several regions of the Russian Federation. According to Russian officials, 59 drones were allegedly destroyed as they approached the capital.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine will continue to intensify long-range strikes on Russian territory and expand the capabilities of its own drones.
