The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Russians to prepare for a protracted war against Ukraine
Russia should be prepared for a prolonged continuation of hostilities, as it will not be possible to resolve the war against Ukraine in the near future.
Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, made this statement in an interview. According to him, Western countries have allegedly bet on the conflict continuing, so Russia needs to be prepared for long-term military operations with a well-thought-out strategy.
The Russian authorities make
such statements regularly. In particular, on July 9, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow intends to continue the war until it achieves the goals that Vladimir Putin outlined in June 2024. At that time, the Russian dictator demanded Ukraine’s de facto surrender: the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territories of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions; the recognition of these regions and Crimea as Russian; Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership; as well as so-called “demilitarization” and “denazification.”

As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law imposing strict restrictions on citizens abroad who have been convicted in absentia under political articles of the Russian Criminal or Administrative Codes, in particular for “discrediting” the army, calling for sanctions, or participating in “undesirable organizations.”
