Russian submarines equipped with anti-drone systems were spotted in Novorossiysk
On August 7, an OSINT researcher released a satellite image that appears to show two Russian submarines in the port of Novorossiysk equipped with massive anti-drone structures.
The image shows that the submarines are equipped with special metal screens, which have been unofficially dubbed “mangals” by Russian troops. Such structures were previously widely installed on armored vehicles to protect against attacks by FPV drones.
Analysts note that the appearance of such devices on submarines may indicate attempts by the Russian military to strengthen the ships’ defenses against attack drones.
Novorossiysk is one of the key bases of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet after Russia was forced to relocate some of its ships from the temporarily occupied Crimea due to Ukrainian attacks.
