Russia is preparing training grounds for a new wave of mobilization this fall
Russian authorities are considering a new wave of mobilization following the State Duma elections, which are scheduled for September. Preparations for a large-scale expansion of the army have been underway for several months.
This was reported by “Verstka” and “Vazhnye Istorii,” citing sources in military registration and enlistment offices, the FSB, and agencies close to the Kremlin.
According to the publications’ sources, starting in October, Russian training grounds may begin accelerated training of tens of thousands of recruits for subsequent deployment to active units. However, these upcoming measures may not officially be referred to as mobilization.
Sources note that the rate of recruitment of contract soldiers in Russia is declining and no longer covers losses on the front lines. At the same time, the military is increasingly complaining about a shortage of personnel.
No final decision has been made regarding a new mobilization yet, but it is being considered as one of the scenarios for replenishing the army amid the protracted war against Ukraine.
