In Russia’s Rostov region, Russian air defense shot down its own Mi-8 helicopter: the crew died
In the Rostov region of Russia, Russian air defense shot down a Mi-8 military helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Three crew members were killed in the crash.
This was reported by the Telegram channel ASTRA.
According to the channel, the incident occurred on the night of March 4. The helicopter crashed onto a local farmer’s barn in the Dudki hamlet of the Millerovo district. After the crash, it caught fire, destroying the barn as well.
Local residents reported the event, and sources in Russian emergency services confirmed that three crew members died on site. No civilians were injured.
The Dudki hamlet is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the Millerovo military airfield.
Earlier, Russian Z-channels reported that a Russian helicopter may have been shot down while air defenses were targeting Ukrainian drones, but no further details were provided. The regional governor did not report the helicopter loss or the deaths of military personnel, only stating that “no one was injured.”
The pro-war Telegram channel Fighterbomber also confirmed the loss of the Mi-8AMTSH helicopter. According to its information, a state commission is working at the crash site to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Additionally, Russian Air Forces lost a Ka-52 “Alligator” reconnaissance-attack helicopter.
Russian military forces mistakenly shot down their own Su-30SM aircraft while attempting to repel drones, which, according to a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, belonged to Ukraine.
