Former commander of the Zaporizhzhia submarine killed in Sevastopol

In the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, Robert Shageev, the former commander of Ukraine’s sole submarine, the *Zaporizhzhia*, was killed in an explosion.

It is noted that Shageev’s tax identification number appeared on the list of invalid individual tax identification numbers. According to the project, this was the first official confirmation of his death.

After Russia’s occupation of Crimea in 2014, Shageev refused to carry out the order to redeploy the Ukrainian military unit to Odesa and did not move the submarine “Zaporizhzhia” to mainland Ukraine.

He was supposed to arrive at his new posting by May 12, 2014, but failed to do so. Instead, he refused to continue serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces and decided to serve in the Russian Armed Forces.

After signing a contract with the Russian Armed Forces, Shageev was appointed deputy commander of the 4th Separate Submarine Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

In Ukraine, he was suspected of desertion and treason under the Criminal Code.

On August 13, an explosion occurred on Stoletov Avenue in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol. Subsequently, reports emerged that Robert Shageev might have been among the possible victims.

According to Russian propaganda outlets, Shageev was walking down a flight of stairs on the street when a planted device exploded nearby.

Russian sources claimed that the explosives may have been hidden in a trash can. It was also reported that a woman who allegedly could have activated the explosive device was detained.

At the same time, the details of the explosion and the circumstances of Shageev’s death have not been officially disclosed.

This was reported by the “Book of Executioners” project, citing data from the Russian tax service.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Defense Forces killed Russian occupier Berik Dautov, who had previously fought as part of the Wagner Group and held the title of Master of Sports in Greco-Roman wrestling. According to available information, he was killed on July 23, 2026, during combat operations in the Donetsk region.

The Ukrainian military eliminated 52-year-old Russian occupier Andriy Yaroslavtsev, who had worked as a coach before participating in the war against Ukraine. He had coached two Russian Olympic champions.
