The only maternity hospital in Sloviansk has ceased operations following an airstrike
The only maternity hospital in Sloviansk that had remained open in the part of Donetsk Oblast controlled by Ukraine has been forced to close following yet another round of Russian shelling.
According to Vadym Lyakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, the decision was made after a Russian FAB-250 bomb fell approximately 200 meters from the medical facility and caused damage to nearby buildings.
No one was injured directly at the maternity hospital, but the infrastructure was at risk and sustained damage, making it unsafe for the facility to continue operating.
On June 8, the city was hit by an airstrike—at least three FAB-250 guided bombs were dropped on it from a UMPK. Nine people were injured in the attack, including a 17-year-old girl. High-rise buildings, private homes, administrative, and educational buildings were also damaged.
Due to the shelling, parts of Sloviansk experienced disruptions in water supply. Additionally, trolleybuses and trams have been removed from the city, and public transportation is currently provided mainly by bus routes.
In effect, the closure of the maternity hospital in Sloviansk means further restricted access to medical care for pregnant women in the frontline region, where the healthcare system operates under constant shelling and security risks.
This was reported by Vadym Lyakh, head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration.
Russian troops twice struck State Emergency Service rescuers in the Synelnykivskyi district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast while they were clearing the aftermath of an enemy attack.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops continue to rely on infantry assaults and use makeshift multiple launch rocket systems. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders are successfully holding back the enemy’s offensive, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment.
