The occupiers sentenced a Donetsk region resident to prison for passing information to Ukraine
The Russian occupation authorities sentenced a 24-year-old resident of the Donetsk region to 14 years in a maximum-security prison for allegedly passing information to Ukrainian intelligence about the deployment of Russian troops in the Donetsk region.
According to the Russian side, in 2022, the 24-year-old man passed on data to Ukrainian intelligence regarding the deployment of Russian troops in the Donetsk region.
The occupying authorities classified his actions as “treason” under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The court sentenced the man to 14 years in a maximum-security prison, followed by one year of restricted freedom upon his release.
The convicted man’s name has not been disclosed. Russian sources indicate only the first letter of his last name—D.
Other details of the case, including the circumstances of his arrest and the nature of the information he allegedly passed on, have not been made public.
At the same time, the charges are based on the Russian side’s version of events and decisions by the occupying authorities, whose legitimacy Ukraine does not recognize.
Russian media have reported on this, citing the occupying “DPR Supreme Court” and the Russian prosecutor’s office.
Earlier, two residents of the Kramatorsk district were found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Andriy Gulak, a 61-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, to 5 years and 4 months in prison. The Russian side accused the man of allegedly participating in a terrorist group due to his service in the “Azov” regiment.
