Four years ago, Ukraine sank the cruiser Moskva
Today, April 13, Ukraine marks the fourth anniversary of one of its most significant naval victories—the sinking of the flagship of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser *Moscow*.
Ukraine became the first country in the world to sink an enemy missile cruiser during full-scale combat operations.
This event dispelled the myth of the Russian fleet’s “invincibility” and demonstrated the effectiveness of Ukrainian missile weapons.
“The destruction of the flagship cruiser of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the ‘Moscow,’ by the Ukrainian Navy, which ‘did not exist.’ Ukraine is the only country in the world to have sunk an enemy missile cruiser during a war. I am proud of our soldiers,” said Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa.

The historic strike was carried out on the evening of April 13, 2022, when the enemy ship was 90 km off the Ukrainian coast near Zmiinyi Island.
Despite stormy weather and a powerful air defense system on board the flagship, two Ukrainian Neptune missiles successfully hit the target.
The strike caused a massive fire, which subsequently led to the detonation of ammunition inside the ship.
The very next day, April 14, during a failed attempt to tow the ship to the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, the pride of the Russian fleet finally sank to the bottom.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully thwarted another attempt by Russian troops to cross the Bakhmutka River, destroying the enemy’s crossing before it could be used.
Soldiers from the Raid Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces detected and destroyed an enemy communications antenna on the front lines that was tuned to Gazprom’s Yamal-601 satellite.
