Ukraine plans to double its strikes on Russian rear areas by the end of 2026, according to Sternenko
Ukrainian defense forces intend to at least double the number of deep strikes on Russian territory by the end of 2026.
This was stated by Defense Minister Advisor Serhiy Sternenko.
“As for our adversary, it will face an increasing number of deep strikes. I believe that Ukrainian strikes on the territory of the so-called Russian Federation will at least double by the end of the year,” Sternenko said in a video posted on Facebook.
According to Sternenko, Russia is currently facing not only military challenges but also serious internal problems.
Among the main factors, he cited:
- economic difficulties in the Russian Federation
- growing discontent among the population
- increased censorship and internet blocking
The advisor to the Minister of Defense noted that even in Russian opinion polls, which are conducted under strict censorship, for the first time since the start of the full-scale war, the number of people dissatisfied with the situation has exceeded the number of those who support the current state of affairs.
“Even in the heavily censored results of Russian opinion polls, Russians now, for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion, do not support the current situation and are more dissatisfied with it than they are supportive and satisfied. This is very telling,” Sternenko emphasized.
He also noted that the blocking of the internet and social media is causing additional dissatisfaction among Russians.
“In this regard, the Russian authorities have only helped us,” added the advisor to the Minister of Defense.
The day before, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on key military and logistical facilities in Russia and the occupied territories, including an oil terminal, ammunition depots, and ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a strike on a fuel and energy infrastructure facility deep within Russian territory, resulting in the destruction of the “Vtorovo” intermediate oil product pumping station in the Vladimir region.
