Ukraine Is Gradually Displacing Russia from the Black Sea — Navy
The Ukrainian military has deprived the Russian Federation of the ability to dominate the western, central, and part of the southern waters of the Black Sea.
Thanks to the effective actions of the Defense Forces, the Russian occupiers’ zone of influence has significantly shrunk, allowing Ukraine to regain control of critically important sea lanes.
The situation in the region has changed radically compared to the early years of the full-scale invasion, when the enemy fleet felt confident.
“In the western, southern, and even central parts. While a few years ago Russian ships would go out to sea, block off sections, threaten civilian vessels, and even attempt to detain them, as of now, this is no longer the case,” emphasized Dmytro Pletenchuk.
The spokesperson stressed that the aggressor’s navy has effectively lost the leverage it had at the start of the war.
Russia is no longer capable of implementing a full-scale naval blockade of Ukrainian ports, which is a strategic success for the Ukrainian economy and regional security.
“While a few years ago they were indeed trying to impose a naval blockade on Ukraine, as of now, the Russian Navy no longer has such capabilities,” added the representative of the Ukrainian Navy.
Despite significant successes at sea, experts warn that the enemy continues to seek new ways to destabilize the situation.
Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, stated this in an interview with the publication “Ukrinform.”
