Ukrainian troops liberated Andriivka-Klevtsove in the Oleksandrivka sector

Soldiers of the 3rd Special Operations Forces Regiment, in coordination with one of the Special Operations Forces’ psychological operations centers, liberated the village of Andriivka-Klevtsove in the Oleksandrivka sector. The village’s Soviet-era name was Iskra.

During the operation, approximately 30 Russian soldiers surrendered to Ukrainian defenders.

According to the agency, Russian troops had been attempting to capture this settlement in the Donetsk region for a long time using small groups, gradually infiltrating and consolidating their positions.

As a result of a ground operation by Ukrainian special forces, 30 Russian servicemen were forced to surrender; those who continued to resist were eliminated. Andriivka-Klevtsove is once again under Ukrainian control.

After liberating the settlement, the special forces conducted the local ritual “Chasing Away the Vipers”—a traditional men’s ritual included in the National List of Elements of Ukraine’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. Its purpose is to cleanse the home of evil spirits, misfortune, and calamities, which the people refer to as “vipers.” The Special Operations Forces noted that this time, the territory had been cleansed of real enemies.

This was reported by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, August 17.

Ukrainian troops discovered a note in the Patriot system (video).

There were 233 clashes on the front lines over the past 24 hours, with the most occurring in the Kostiantynivka sector.

Zelenskyy spoke about reinforcing Sloviansk and Kostyantynivka.
