Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” have struck Russian targets up to 1,000 km away, Zelenskyy said

Over the course of the week, Ukrainian defenders carried out a series of strikes on military targets deep within Russian territory, including some located nearly 1,000 km from the front lines

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Facebook.

The head of state called these operations “long-range sanctions” and emphasized that some of the strikes are still ongoing, so the published results are incomplete.

According to Zelenskyy, the targets hit included:

  • a Be-200 amphibious aircraft;
  • a Ka-27 helicopter;
  • a dry cargo ship carrying ammunition;
  • the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system;
  • the "Tor" anti-aircraft missile system;
  • “Redut-2US” communications system;
  • other drones and military equipment.

The President also reported that strikes were carried out against Russian oil infrastructure facilities and military targets in the rear.

These are entirely justified responses to what the Russians are doing. We will increase the range and frequency of our strikes. Thank you to everyone working for our strength! Thank you to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and intelligence agencies for their precision,” Zelenskyy stated.

Officials in Kyiv emphasize that such operations are part of a strategy to put pressure on Russia’s military and logistical infrastructure deep in the rear.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also reported on a meeting with the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Security Service of Ukraine, during which they discussed Ukraine’s further actions against Russia.

Gazprom’s Astrakhan gas processing plant halted production of automotive fuel following a drone attack that occurred on May 13. The strike caused a massive fire at the facility, damaging key technological equipment.

Earlier, in the Belgorod region of Russia, a Russian fighter jet accidentally dropped a high-explosive bomb on railroad tracks during a combat mission, causing an electric train to derail.
