Ukrainian air defense forces shot down a guided air-to-ground missile and 69 Russian drones
On the night of July 17–18, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine, firing seven missiles and deploying 90 attack drones. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed most of the aerial targets, but were unable to prevent a few from hitting their marks.
Last night, the Russians attacked Ukraine with:
- with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from occupied Crimea;
- two “Onyx” anti-ship missiles from occupied Crimea;
- three X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missiles launched from airspace over occupied Crimea;
- 90 Shahed-type strike drones (including jet-powered ones), “Gerbera,” "Italmas," "Banderol" loitering munitions, and "Parody"-type decoy drones from the following directions: Bryansk, Orel, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk—Russian Federation; Donetsk—temporarily occupied territory; Gvardeyskoye—occupied Crimea.
The main target area is the Odesa region.
According to preliminary data, as of 09:00, air defense forces shot down or neutralized one X-59/69 guided air-to-ground missile and 69 enemy drones in the north, south, and east of the country.
Missile strikes and 19 attack drones were recorded at 19 locations, and debris from downed drones was found at 5 locations.
“The attack is ongoing; there are several enemy drones in the airspace. Follow safety guidelines!” the Air Force warned.
This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Air Force.
As a reminder, the death toll rose to seven following a Russian guided airstrike on Izyum in the Kharkiv region on July 17.
On July 17, Russian troops struck a fire and rescue unit in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast.
On July 17, Russian terrorist forces launched massive attacks throughout the morning and for most of the day on production facilities belonging to the Naftogaz Group in the Kharkiv, Poltava, and Sumy regions.
