Ukrainian military forces destroyed three Russian maritime drones in a single day
On August 17, the Ukrainian military destroyed three Russian maritime drones. According to Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, no further attempts to deploy such drones have been recorded since then.
“Since then, as far as I know, no further attempts to use them have been observed,” Pletenchuk said.
He noted that Russia is currently relying more heavily on aerial attack assets, while the maritime component of the Russian forces has not been developed to the same extent. At the same time, Pletenchuk noted that the Ukrainian Navy takes into account the threat of Russia using unmanned surface vessels when planning defensive operations.
“We are still taking this threat into account when planning our defensive operations, and, as practice has shown, we are well-prepared to repel such attacks,” the spokesperson assured viewers during the telethon.
As a reminder, on the night of August 18, Moscow and the Moscow Region came under a massive drone attack. Russian authorities reported hundreds of drones, some of which were allegedly destroyed by air defense systems, and restricted operations at the capital’s airports due to the threat of attack.
