Ukrainian soldier escaped Russian captivity, taking two Russians with him

In Donetsk region, a serviceman of the 5th Battalion of the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, Volodymyr Aleksandrov, call sign “Pozytyv,” managed to escape Russian captivity after being wounded and led out two occupiers with him. Later, a Ukrainian ground robotic system (UGS) eliminated one of the enemies.
This was reported by the brigade itself.

On January 23, Pozytyv and his comrade Ihor Maksymchuk (call sign “Khmil”) were heading out to pick up supplies near Kostiantynivka when they fell into an ambush. Khmil sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, and Pozytyv was wounded in the leg. The Russians dragged them into a house and forced Pozytyv to transmit a radio message about a “serious wound” and inability to move. After that, contact with Pozytyv was lost for two days.

The battalion command planned an evacuation and dropped supplies and medicines at the position. The next day, two Ukrainian soldiers checked the shelter, heard Russian speech, but did not engage in combat. After FPV drone strikes on the position, Pozytyv reported that two occupiers had fled, while two others remained wounded. He persuaded them to surrender and prepared to leave together with them.

Preparation for the evacuation lasted several days. On January 29, the ground robotic system “Tarhan 3K” reached an intermediate point, and in the morning the main system “RYS PRO” arrived together with the evacuation group. During the withdrawal, the Russians attacked them with drones and artillery; one of the prisoners was killed, while Pozytyv and the second one escaped to a basement, which was also partially collapsed.

On January 31, Ukrainian soldiers, using a reserve ground robotic system, managed to retrieve Pozytyv and the wounded occupier and evacuate them to a safe area.

Pozytyv’s condition is stable — his pelvic bone was shattered and a joint damaged; he underwent surgery. The command is preparing a submission for a state award. The fate of Ihor Maksymchuk is currently unknown.

For reference, Russian claims about the capture of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi do not correspond to reality.
Also, fighters of the “Khartiia” brigade are clearing Kupiansk of remaining occupying forces.
