The ISW explained how the occupiers exploited the ceasefire on the front lines

The Russian military used the three-day pause in hostilities, announced from May 9 to 11, to covertly regroup its forces and intensify pressure on Ukrainian positions.

Instead of the promised de-escalation, the aggressor focused on building up its personnel and the massive deployment of new types of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) confirm that despite political statements about a ceasefire, hostilities did not stop for a moment.

Data from NASA’s FIRMS satellite system clearly recorded fires and shelling along the entire line of contact throughout all three days of the so-called “ceasefire.”

The Ukrainian command in the Lyman sector reported active enemy maneuvers during this period.

The occupiers used the relative lull to bring in fresh reserves and stockpile ammunition at forward positions, preparing for new assault operations.

Of particular concern is the appearance of a large number of “Molniya”-type drones on the front lines.

According to the military, during the “lull,” Russia not only did not cease its attacks but even intensified the use of these drones, indicating a premeditated operation to covertly wear down our defenses.

In the Kupiansk direction, Russian units continue fierce attempts to reach the left bank of the Oskil River.

Throughout May 11, the Defense Forces successfully repelled attacks by the occupiers, who attempted to break through to Kupiansk again via the village of Holubivka.

Colonel Viktor Tregubov noted that the enemy is attempting to reduce the Ukrainian foothold on the eastern bank of the river as much as possible.

The main means of pressure remain aviation and drones, which make logistics for both sides extremely risky and difficult.

The occupiers are also attempting to break through to Kurylivka via Pishchane, using tactics involving small infantry groups supported by artillery.

“Active drone operations on both sides are seriously complicating logistics for both Russian and Ukrainian forces in this area,” the Joint Forces Command emphasized.
