Russia could significantly ramp up production of FPV drones, said Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov. According to him, domestic manufacturers are capable of producing more than 15,000 FPV drones per day.
“Domestic companies are already capable of supplying over 15,000 units per day of FPV drones alone, and in 2023, that was the monthly production volume,” Manturov noted.
According to him, the Russian defense industry is actively developing drone technologies, particularly systems incorporating artificial intelligence and jam-resistant communications.
He also announced the development of a separate line of products—kamikaze drones and loitering munitions—as well as efforts to scale up production and reduce costs.
“We are constantly working on scaling up production, improving quality, and reducing the final cost of our unmanned systems,” he added.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that in 2024, Russian troops received over 1.5 million drones of various types, and daily deliveries of FPV drones allegedly reached about 4,000 units.
Manturov spoke about this in an interview with Russian media.
Russia has significantly increased the volume of its defense orders for “Shahed”-type drones. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, orders for various modifications of such drones this year exceed 100,000 units. Intelligence sources note that these are various types of strike drones that Russia is actively using for attacks on Ukrainian territory. The increase in production and procurement indicates Russia’s intention to continue expanding the use of drones in the war.
Russia is using delays in attacks to exert psychological pressure, according to a representative of the Ministry of Defense.
