Video: Drones attacked a gas processing plant in Orenburg, causing a fire
On June 24, Ukrainian drones attacked a gas processing plant in Orenburg, Russia, after which a fire broke out on the plant’s premises. Details regarding the consequences of the strike are still being clarified.
Local authorities, including regional governor Yevgeny Solntsev, have also confirmed the attack on the plant, which took place in the early morning hours of June 24.
That morning, the official reported a massive drone attack on the region. According to him, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down several drones over the industrial facility in Orenburg.
The governor also reported that emergency services are on the scene and that no information about casualties has been received.
At the same time, data from NASA’s FIRMS fire monitoring service and reports from local residents on social media indicate fires on the facility’s grounds. Several fire hotspots have been detected.
The Russian official reminded that publishing photos and videos featuring UAVs is prohibited in the Orenburg region.
After 4 a.m., Orenburg Airport also suspended the arrival and departure of aircraft as part of Operation “Kover,” which was launched after drones were detected in the region’s airspace.
The Orenburg gas processing plant is located in the village of Kholodnye Klyuchi, which is part of the city of Orenburg. The facility is part of the Gazprom group.
The distance from Ukraine’s state border to the Russian plant targeted today is over 1,000 kilometers. It was previously attacked by drones in October of last year.
