Video: Drones attacked the Moscow suburbs, causing fires near Wildberries and a factory
On the night of July 28, Moscow and the Moscow Region came under a large-scale drone attack. Russian authorities claimed to have shot down dozens of drones, but following the attack in the Moscow region, fires were reported near the Wildberries logistics complex and at one of the industrial facilities.
The first reports of the attack emerged around 5 a.m. At 4:38 a.m., Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that Russian air defense had allegedly destroyed 12 drones heading toward the Russian capital.
“Twelve UAVs flying toward Moscow were destroyed by the Defense Ministry’s air defense system. Emergency services specialists are working at the crash site,” he wrote.
Sobyanin subsequently reported on the air defense operations several more times. According to Russian social media accounts and OSINT channels, a total of about a hundred drones may have been operating in the Moscow area. The mayor of the Russian capital posted the latest update on the attack at 5:42 a.m.
Despite claims that the attack was successfully repelled, fires broke out in the Moscow region. Initially, Russian Telegram channels reported a fire on the grounds of the Wildberries logistics center. At the same time, OSINT communities clarify that it is most likely the warehouses of the 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operator, located next to the Wildberries complex, that are on fire, rather than the warehouses of Russia’s largest marketplace itself.
In addition, there are reports of a drone striking or crashing on the grounds of the “Gidrostalkonstruktsiya” CJSC plant in the city of Chekhov. According to preliminary information, the drone struck a factory chimney, after which a fire broke out at the facility. Russian authorities have not yet released any official information regarding the extent of the damage or possible casualties.
Earlier, Wildberries removed the search for military goods following a request from “Everything for the Special Military Operation.”
As a reminder, Ukrainian drones struck six Wildberries warehouses in Russia and Crimea.
Estonian intelligence has estimated Russia’s losses from the strikes on Wildberries at $2 billion.
