Video: Drones successfully attacked the occupied cities of Mariupol and Alchevsk
On the night of June 8, explosions were heard in Mariupol and Alchevsk in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Substations caught fire in Mariupol, while fires and the activation of air defense systems were reported in Alchevsk, Luhansk Oblast.
In occupied Mariupol, a substation caught fire following a series of explosions. According to local monitoring channels, strikes hit at least three substations in the city. Information regarding the extent of the damage and the impact on the power supply is being clarified.
Occupied Alchevsk in Luhansk Oblast was also targeted by drones. Local residents report explosions, air defense activity, and the sounds of UAVs flying over the city. Open flames were observed following the attack.
According to the monitoring channel Kyberboroshno, the "Alchevskaya" substation was hit on the night of June 8 220/110/10 kV substation—the city’s main distribution hub with a capacity of 500 MVA—was struck on the night of June 8. This substation supplies both the city itself and the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant. In parallel, power to the area is distributed by the “Cherkaska” 220/110/10 kV substation with a capacity of 450 MVA—there is currently no confirmed information about its damage, but given the scale of the attack, this cannot be ruled out.
