Video: The Main Intelligence Directorate struck two large landing ships in Crimea
On the night of April 18–19, 2026, fighters from the “Ghosts,” a special operations unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, carried out a brilliant operation in occupied Crimea.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense on Telegram.
As a result of precision strikes in Sevastopol Bay, two large landing ships (LSDs) of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were disabled, and an expensive radar station was destroyed.
Strategically important units of the enemy fleet came under the crosshairs of Ukrainian intelligence officers—the Project 775 LDC “Yamal” and the Project 1171 LDC “Nikolai Filchenkov.”
Both ships were located directly in Sevastopol Bay, which the invaders considered protected, but the “Ghosts” managed to bypass the enemy’s defense systems.
“Both ships that Russia used in its criminal war against Ukraine have been put out of commission,” the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense states, emphasizing the occupiers’ significant losses in logistical capabilities in the Black Sea.
The VDC "Yamal" is a relatively modern ship worth over $80 million, capable of carrying up to 500 tons of cargo, including armored vehicles.
Its “fellow victim,” the “Nikolai Filchenkov,” though older, has an even greater cargo capacity—up to 1,000 tons—which allowed the enemy to transport entire landing contingents.
In addition to the fleet, reconnaissance units dealt a painful blow to the aggressor’s air defense system in Sevastopol.
During the operation, the enemy’s “Podlot-K1” radar station, with an estimated value of about $5 million, was completely destroyed.
