Video: SBU Naval Drones strike Russian Tanker Dashan in the Black Sea
On 10 December, SBU Sea Baby naval drones attacked the oil tanker Dashan, which belongs to Russia’s “shadow fleet.”
The vessel, sailing under the flag of the Comoros, was moving through Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone toward the Novorossiysk port terminal with its transponder switched off and at maximum speed.
The operation was carried out jointly by the 13th Main Directorate of SBU Military Counterintelligence and the Ukrainian Navy. As a result of the strike, the tanker sustained critical damage; explosions near the stern were recorded on video. According to preliminary information, the vessel has been disabled.
The tanker is estimated to be worth around $30 million, and during a single voyage it transported approximately $60 million worth of petroleum products. Due to its involvement in transporting Russian crude and the high level of risk — including sailing with its identification system switched off — Dashan had previously been sanctioned by the EU, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Switzerland.
Sea Baby naval drones also struck the tankers KAIRO and VIRAT, which are part of Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” and were used to circumvent international sanctions on oil transportation.
