Video: Sea Baby marine drones disabled two Russian tankers in the Black Sea
As a result of a large-scale special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), Sea Baby marine drones attacked and disabled two Russian Federation oil tankers subject to sanctions in the Black Sea.
This was reported by an informed source in the Ukrainian special services.
According to sources, Sea Baby marine drones struck the tankers KAIRO and VIRAT, which belong to the so-called ‘shadow fleet’ of the Russian Federation and were used to circumvent international sanctions on oil transportation. The operation was a joint effort between the 13th Main Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy.
The modernised Sea Baby drones demonstrated high efficiency: they are capable of covering long distances and are equipped with reinforced combat units, which allows them to inflict critical damage on enemy vessels. According to available footage, both tankers were seriously damaged and effectively taken out of service, which significantly reduces Russia's ability to transport oil through the Black Sea.
It is important to note that at the time of the attack, the tankers were empty and heading for loading at the port of Novorossiysk. According to preliminary estimates, the destruction of these vessels will result in losses of almost $70 million for the Kremlin, as they were used to transport oil and circumvent sanctions.
As noted by the SBU, this operation is part of ongoing measures by Ukrainian special services to limit the financial capabilities of the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine.
‘Sea Baby marine drones are proving effective in striking critical Russian economic infrastructure,’ the special service emphasised.
Thus, the attack on the KAIRO and VIRAT tankers not only dealt a direct blow to Russia's transport logistics, but also increased international pressure on the Kremlin and demonstrated Ukraine's ability to effectively use modern unmanned systems in the fight against the aggressor.
We will remind you that on 27 November, explosions were heard at the Rosgvardia military town of Akhmat-North in Grozny, according to the Russian Telegram channel Astra.
