Video: Russia attacks Kyiv Central Station; the Shayba Market is on fire
On the morning of September 23, a Russian attack sparked large-scale fires at civilian facilities in Kyiv. In particular, the “Shaiba” market near the train station—where “Velyka Kyshenya” previously operated—is on fire.
City authorities confirmed fires in warehouse facilities in the Holosiivskyi district, on the grounds of a transportation company in the Solomianskyi district, and a Russian drone strike on a gas station. A strike on a transportation infrastructure facility was also reported in the Darnytskyi district.
According to eyewitness reports, the “Shayba” market is on fire near the capital’s train station. Due to the scale of the fire, the building has sustained significant damage.

The “Shayba” market is located near Kyiv’s Central Railway Station. Previously, the “Velyka Kyshenya” supermarket operated in this building, but it closed in 2021.

The Russian attack on the capital has been ongoing since the night of September 23. Strikes, falling debris, and fires have been reported in various districts of Kyiv. Due to the heightened air threat, Kyiv City Express train service has been temporarily suspended in both directions.
As of this morning, there were also reports of casualties resulting from the attack. According to Vitali Klitschko, medical personnel hospitalized three people, two of whom were in serious condition.

Eight people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack on September 23. One of the wounded, who had been hospitalized in critical condition, died in the hospital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
On the morning of September 23, Russian terrorists attacked the area around Kyiv’s Central Railway Station. Fortunately, the building that serves as Ukraine’s main railway gateway was not damaged.
On the night of September 22–23, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 161 strike drones of various types. Among them were 82 jet-powered UAVs. As of 8:00 a.m., air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 119 enemy drones and three more “Banderole”/“Dan-T” drones.
Since the evening of September 22, Russian troops have attacked two districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 10 times. The occupiers used drones and dropped aerial bombs; one person was injured as a result of the attacks.
We should add that drones attacked the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions overnight.
As a reminder, Russia struck Kharkiv on the night of September 23, resulting in one fatality.
On the morning of September 23, air raid alerts were issued in Kyiv and several regions due to the threat of UAVs.
