Video: The SBU exposed an associate professor at the Ministry of Defense Academy who was working for Russian intelligence
The Security Service of Ukraine has detained a high-ranking agent of Russian military intelligence who was carrying out subversive activities within a leading academy of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
The suspect, who held the position of associate professor at one of the institution’s research centers, systematically passed classified information to representatives of the aggressor country’s intelligence services.
The “mole” for the enemy’s intelligence service turned out to be an associate professor at the research center. At the behest of Russia’s GRU, the agent copied and sent project documentation on the Defense Forces’ latest strike drones to his handler in Russia.
The traitor not only engaged in espionage but also actively sabotaged the development of the domestic defense-industrial complex.
Using his official position, the official blocked the implementation of modern developments, unjustifiably refusing to recognize manufacturers’ products as promising.
The official also unjustifiably deemed the developments of Ukrainian arms manufacturers—which were undergoing expert evaluation of their tactical and technical characteristics—to be unpromising.
To this end, he prepared “negative” conclusions on test projects for unmanned and robotic systems, which were “allegedly unsuitable for use in combat conditions.”
The detainee’s actions caused serious damage to the country’s defense capabilities amid a full-scale war.
Investigative proceedings are currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the criminal activity, as well as to identify other individuals who may have been involved in the hostile network.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
