Video: NASA satellites captured images of massive fires following a nighttime drone attack in Kerch
In the temporarily occupied city of Kerch, a series of explosions rocked the city on the night of July 17 during a large-scale drone attack. NASA satellite images captured numerous fires in the area of the train station and other infrastructure facilities.
According to their data, the explosions in the city lasted for several hours, after which large-scale fires broke out near strategic facilities. The first reports of fires near the train station emerged around 1:00 a.m. Data from NASA’s FIRMS fire monitoring system confirmed the presence of several fire hotspots on the train station grounds.
The “Crimean Wind” monitoring group and the Exilenova+ channel report that the strikes may have set fire to storage facilities—presumably the “Kerch” oil depot—as well as trains that were on the tracks. In addition, there is a possibility that the nearby “Kerchenskaya” power substation was damaged.
Fires have also been reported at other facilities in the eastern part of occupied Crimea. Near Shchebetovka, west of Koktebel, satellites detected fires in the area of the “Koktebel” power substation and a local pumping station.
Monitoring resources reported this on Telegram.
As a reminder, fires broke out near Dzhankoy and the Chongar Bridge in Crimea following a drone attack.
In the north of the temporarily occupied Crimea, about 300 villages have been without electricity and water for two weeks, and local residents are also facing food shortages.
