Video: A university in Belgorod, where UAVs were being developed, was damaged in a drone attack
In Belgorod, Russia, the main building of the Vladimir Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University sustained significant damage as a result of a drone attack; according to Russian sources, drones were being developed and tested there. Photos and videos of the aftermath were published by the Telegram channel “Pepel Belgorod.”
The published footage shows the damaged university building following the nighttime attack. Earlier, the channel also reported on a large-scale fire in the area of the university and published a video in which an eyewitness says that “everything is burning there,” adding that this is where “drones are manufactured and people are trained to operate them.”
On the night of August 3 and into the morning, the Belgorod Region Operational Headquarters warned of the threat of drone attacks in Belgorod and the Belgorod District. Residents were urged to remain in shelters and stay away from windows.
According to the Russian Telegram channel Astra, which cites information from the university itself, BSTU was developing an automated drone control system based on the “Milandr” microprocessor. The university claimed that the project was for civilian use and was intended for monitoring power lines, heating mains, and aerial photography.
In addition, in the summer of 2026, the university announced that it was recruiting high school students for summer courses on drone development.
