Video: High-rise building catches fire in Kharkiv after drone strike, casualties reported

Today, 3 February, Russian occupiers attacked a high-rise residential building in Kharkiv’s Saltivka district. The strike was carried out using a Shahed drone, city mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Synehubov reported on Telegram.

According to Terekhov, the drone hit caused a fire in the five-storey building, with the top three floors already burned out.

Residents on the upper floors were able to escape. Two people are reported injured, including a 57-year-old man. All casualties are receiving medical care.

Synehubov confirmed that the strike caused apartments in the building to catch fire. Information on the full extent of the damage is still being verified.

On the night of 24 January, Russia struck Kyiv with missiles not typically seen in recent months. The attack involved heavy Kh-22 and Kh-32 cruise missiles launched from Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, according to Yurii Ihnat, head of communications for the Ukrainian Air Force Command.

Ukraine is experiencing a serious shortage of missiles for its air defence systems, leaving some anti-aircraft complexes without ammunition ahead of renewed attacks, Ihnat added.

Meanwhile, a key CHP plant in Kharkiv sustained severe damage in a Russian strike, leaving hundreds of apartment buildings without heating.
