Video: Explosions were heard throughout the night in various areas of occupied Crimea

On the night of June 24, a series of explosions was reported in occupied Crimea in areas stretching from Simferopol to Sevastopol. Fires broke out in several locations following the intervention of Russian air defense forces and mobile fire teams.

At 12:17 a.m., subscribers to the “Crimean Wind” channel reported explosions and gunfire in the Simferopol district. Pro-Russian Telegram channels were unable to determine what to fear—missiles or drones.

At 00:22, a powerful explosion occurred in Krasnoperekopsk. At the same time, pro-Russian channels reported an alert regarding a “Neptune” cruise missile in Crimea.

Subsequently, explosions began to be reported in various parts of the peninsula almost simultaneously:

  • in the Sovetsky district, a mobile fire unit shot down drones;
  • in the Kirovsky district, the sound of an explosion was heard;
  • in the Krasnoperekopsk district—another powerful explosion;
  • in Simferopol—a series of loud explosions that shook windows and doors in apartments;
    multiple explosions were reported in Simferopol and Gvardeisky.

Around 12:30 a.m., an explosion was heard near the train station in the village of Kirovskoye—something had detonated. In the village of DRES in Simferopol, people heard drones flying overhead, and mobile fire teams opened fire.

From 01:20 to 01:37, users reported seeing missiles or jet-powered drones flying over various areas of Crimea.

It wasn’t until 02:00 that the occupation Ministry of Emergency Situations announced a drone threat—almost two hours after the attack began.

At 02:29, a powerful explosion occurred over Sevastopol. Prior to that, machine guns had been fired at drones on the northern side of the city, and after the first explosion, the occupying “Gauleiter” declared an alert.

In Feodosia, a critical energy infrastructure facility was attacked, according to the Supernova Telegram channel.

As of 04:04, there was confirmation of a strike on the Simferopol Thermal Power Plant—a facility whose attack directly affects the city’s heat supply. Air defense activity has been observed in many cities across the peninsula, according to the Supernova Telegram channel.

The Simferopol Thermal Power Plant (officially known as the Simferopol CHP) is an old Soviet thermal power plant built in 1958. It is located in the northwestern part of the city, in the village of Gresivsky on the Salgir River, 9 km from the center of Simferopol. The terms “GRES” and “GRES district” have long been established in the vocabulary of Crimeans. The plant’s electrical capacity is 100 MW, and its thermal capacity is 490 Gcal/h. It covers about 40% of Simferopol’s heating needs and provides heat to the city’s neighborhoods and neighboring settlements—Gresivsky, Komsomolskoye, Aeroflotsky, and Molodizhnoe. Its primary fuel is natural gas, with fuel oil as a backup. The facility is the oldest large-scale CHP plant on the peninsula and the main backup and emergency source of electricity in the Crimean power grid.

Followers also report that the power situation in Sevastopol has “gotten really bad”—most of the city is without power.

In Bakhchisaray, following a strike, warehouses belonging to the 133rd Separate Logistics Brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet (military unit 73998) in the area of Chekhov and Simferopolskaya Streets, according to “Crimean Wind.”

The brigade is responsible for logistical support for Black Sea Fleet units—supplying food, fuel, and ammunition, as well as repairing equipment.

As it became known early this morning, three strikes were recorded in Sevastopol on the city’s main power substation—the 330/220/110/35 kV “Sevastopol” substation. A massive fire broke out, and a column of black smoke is rising above the facility. The substation is the main hub that supplies power to the entire Sevastopol energy district. Currently, the entire city is without power, according to “Crimean Wind.”

As a reminder, drones struck 193 Russian trucks near occupied Crimea over the course of five days.

Earlier, on June 16, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don handed down sentences to two Ukrainian prisoners of war from the “Azov” battalion, sentencing them to 17 and 20 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.

Russia has handed down yet another round of sentences to Ukrainian prisoners of war. The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced six defenders of Ukraine to terms ranging from 12 to 19 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
