On the night of July 2, 2026, Russian occupation forces launched a large-scale combined attack on Kyiv, using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as attack drones.

As a result of the enemy shelling, damage was reported in all districts of the capital, and several high-rise buildings sustained serious damage.

According to the city’s mayor, rescue workers continue to clear debris at the scene, where people may still be trapped.

“A building in the Darnytskyi district, parts of which were literally blown away—a rescue operation is underway here, and they are searching for people under the rubble, including a 15-year-old girl and her family,” the mayor said while inspecting the site of the tragedy.

Vitali Klitschko also added that the search for victims is continuing under extremely difficult conditions, and city services are working around the clock.

In addition to residential areas, the attack struck critical infrastructure, including an emergency medical services substation.

As the mayor noted: “At the emergency medical services substation—whose building was also damaged—nine ambulances were damaged. Drivers, medical personnel, and emergency services continue to work in various locations and districts, setting up command centers to assist affected residents. We are working on it right now.”

According to official data, at least 13 people were killed as a result of the massive nighttime shelling, and more than 80 people sustained injuries of varying severity, including two children.

In total, more than 20 residential buildings were damaged, leading to damage to utility networks and changes to public transportation routes in many areas of the capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko released a video from the Darnytskyi district, where one of the residential buildings sustained the most severe damage.
