War in Ukraine: 95 combat engagements reported on the front in one day
As of 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 95 combat engagements had occurred along the front since the start of the day, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defense forces have already repelled 33 attacks by Russian occupiers.
On the North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out 58 shelling attacks, including one with multiple rocket launchers. On the South Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian forces repelled three attacks in the areas of Vovchansk, Starytsia, and Prylipky.
On the Kupiansk direction, the occupiers attempted to advance three times in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, Hlushkivka, and Petropavlivka — fighting continues. On the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked five times near Novoselivka, Kolodiazne, and Torske.
On the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack near Dronivka, and on the Kramatorsk direction, one enemy offensive action was recorded toward Stupočky. On the Kostiantynivka direction, Ukrainian forces stopped 13 enemy attacks, and one combat engagement is ongoing.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the occupiers made 38 attempts to push back defenders in the areas of Shakhove, Nikanorivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, and toward Novopavlivka.
In other directions, enemy activity was reported in the Oleksandrivka, Huliaipole, and Orikhiv districts, including airstrikes and guided bomb attacks. No combat engagements were recorded on the Prydniprovsk direction. Elsewhere along the front, the situation has not changed significantly.
Total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine — from February 24, 2022, to January 4, 2026 — are approximately 1,211,530 personnel, including about 900 over the past day.
As of 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 104 combat engagements had occurred along the entire front line, while Russian forces continued intensive shelling of border regions and Ukrainian Defense Forces positions.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 46 attacks by Russian occupiers and eliminated over 200 enemy troops on January 2. Fighting continues in the areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, where Ukrainian units control key positions and destroy enemy equipment.
The situation for occupation force units operating directly within the city of Kupiansk as of early January 2026 remains critical.
