Military reports critical situation in Pokrovsk amid enemy numerical superiority
Intense fighting continues in Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, with control over different parts of the city constantly changing, Mykola Hrytsenko, chief of staff of the 4th Special Forces Battalion “Freedom Force,” reported.
Hrytsenko described the local situation as extremely difficult, with military operations characterised by high dynamics and constant activity along the front line.
The combat environment is defined by continuous manoeuvring: one side advances, then the other. Drones play a crucial role in targeting enemy positions after engagements, forcing Ukrainian troops to frequently reposition to avoid being hit. Enemy forces employ similar tactics, making the front line highly mobile.
Particularly unstable is the so-called “kill zone”—a 5-10 kilometre-wide area where control of positions constantly shifts between the two sides.
The military regularly sets up ambushes to maintain the upper hand and prevent the enemy from gaining a foothold.
