Two people were killed as a result of the Russian Federation's morning attack on Kharkiv
On the morning of August 9, Russian forces launched strikes on the Saltivsky District of Kharkiv, killing two people and injuring at least 12 others.
According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Oleg Synehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, two high-rise buildings were hit. In one of the buildings, floors 7 through 10 were destroyed, and residents remain trapped in the neighboring building. Emergency rescue operations are ongoing at the sites of the strikes.

Total combat losses of Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as of August 8, 2026, amount to approximately 1,456,610 soldiers.
On August 7, there were 192 combat engagements between Ukrainian defenders and Russian troops on the front lines. The occupiers were most active in the Pokrovsk direction, where 25 assaults were recorded over the past 24 hours, and Ukrainian forces neutralized 56 Russian soldiers.
