Volodymyr Ogryzko called the negotiations in the U.S. a sham and a “process for the sake of the process”

Volodymyr Ogryzko called the negotiations in the U.S. a sham and a “process for the sake of the process”

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ogryzko stated that the current negotiations in the U.S. involving the Ukrainian delegation lack a realistic basis for ending the war.

In his view, the political positions of Kyiv and Moscow remain diametrically opposed, making any agreements impossible at this stage.

Speaking on Radio NV, the diplomat noted that the situation has returned to a scenario favorable to the Russian Federation.

Ogryzko recalled that when U.S. President Donald Trump came to power, he proposed a ceasefire, which Ukraine supported, but Russia rejected this option, insisting on a “comprehensive peace agreement.”

“In fact, we are now doing exactly what Russia wanted—waging war and pretending to negotiate. This is precisely what is happening right now,” Volodymyr Ogryzko emphasized.

He is convinced that the Kremlin is using diplomatic forums solely to create the appearance of intense activity while continuing its armed aggression.

According to the former minister, military experts can discuss the technical parameters of potential agreements, but without a fundamental political decision, these talks are meaningless.

Ogryzko is certain that there are currently only two possible paths for events to unfold: either Ukraine signs a surrender, or there are no political decisions at all.

“There are no political decisions, and there won’t be any. Because there are two options here—either we sign a surrender, or there will be no such decisions at all. I think that the Ukrainian leadership, thank God, is leaning toward the second option,” the diplomat emphasized.

He added that Ukrainian society would never grant the government the right to surrender.

Ogryzko compared the current state of affairs to the long-standing negotiations between the U.S. and the USSR, which could drag on for decades without any real results.

Russia, he said, is a master at creating numerous groups, subgroups, and commissions to drag out the process and simulate progress where none exists.

“This is a never-ending topic. Until a political decision is made, you can create groups, subgroups, commissions—whatever you want. This is exactly what Russia does fantastically well,” he noted.

As a reminder, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded more than fifty attacks by the occupiers across various sections of the front.

Additionally, 20,000 foreigners have joined the Defense Forces.
