Russian troops attacked the outskirts of Sumy with cluster munitions this evening. Seven people were injured in the strike, including an 11-year-old boy, and private homes were damaged.
Medical personnel provided on-site treatment to some of the victims, and several people were hospitalized. Emergency services are currently on the scene and are surveying the area following the attack.
The Russian army struck a residential area on the outskirts of Sumy. According to preliminary reports, the enemy used cluster munitions. Seven people were injured in the attack. Two women and a man with injuries are being examined by medical personnel; they are under medical supervision and receiving the necessary care. “Two women and a man with injuries are being examined. Two other men were released for outpatient treatment after being examined by doctors. Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, clarified that a child is among the injured. “Among them is an 11-year-old boy who suffered an acute stress reaction; medical assistance was provided on the spot,” he noted.
According to him, a 30-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman are in serious condition. Private residential buildings were damaged as a result of the strike. Rescue workers, medical personnel, and other emergency services are on the scene. Oleg Grigorov urged residents not to approach debris or suspicious objects that may remain after the use of cluster munitions. “Do not approach suspicious objects and do not touch them. All necessary services are on the scene,” the regional head emphasized.
Specialists continue to deal with the aftermath of the attack and are searching the area to identify any potentially dangerous remnants left behind by the shelling. This was reported by Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces pushed back Russian troops near the villages of Maliivka, Sichneve, Novohorhiivka, and Zaporizke in the Synelnykivskyi District of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Over the past 24 hours, 244 combat engagements took place on the front lines. Ukrainian forces continue to repel the advance of Russian occupation forces, inflicting losses on the enemy in terms of personnel and equipment.
On the night of July 14, Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on Ukraine, using ballistic missiles, guided air-to-ground missiles, and attack drones. Air defense forces intercepted five ballistic missiles, two Kh-59/69 missiles, and 108 enemy drones.
Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s drone forces have struck or destroyed 1,559 Russian military targets, including 15 enemy vessels.
